Salford METS Cross Country Race 2
Sat 05 Oct 2019Thankfully the skies were clear and the weather wasn't too cold and it was the second of the warm up races for this years Salford Schools Cross Country Championships.
All the runners were absolutely fantastic and beat their positions from last time which is exactly what Miss Crawshaw and Mr Chadwick wanted to see. The determination from all our superstars was brilliant with some experienced and some running for their first time.
Well done to you all and thank you for all the support from the parents. The main championships will be starting on the 2nd November at Bolton Road Playing Fields. Further details will be sent out next week.

Year 6 Map out the story of World War II in Europe
Fri 04 Oct 2019As part of our Second World War History topic, Year 6 have been using atlases and maps to plot out the story of World War II in Europe. We looked at how things changed between the years of 1939, 1940 and 1941, and then again at the time of the D-Day landings in 1944 and at the end of the war in May 1945. Children used a key with different colours to indicate those countries that were invaded near the start of the war, those countries that joined forces with Germany, and those countries that were taken back by the allied forces later in the war. -
Year 6 Science: Making Periscopes
Fri 04 Oct 2019On Thursday afternoon Year 6 made periscopes, as part of our Light and Sight Science topic. These enabled us to see around corners! We also discussed how periscopes are used on Submarines, to help the people inside to see above the surface of the sea. Our periscopes were constructed from cardboard nets, and with two mirrors in each one. The skills we have gained from this activity will also come in useful on Friday morning, when we will be making nets of 3-D shapes in Maths. -
Yr4 Science Investigators
Thu 03 Oct 2019In our science topic of 'Animals including Humans' we have been identifying the different types of teeth in humans and their simple functions. We planned an investigation to see the effects that different liquids have on our teeth. We used duck eggs to model teeth. We observed the changes over a seven day period. From the results we discussed how to prevent tooth decay - DON'T have too much vinegar!!! -
Yr4 pointillism.
Thu 03 Oct 2019We have been learning about the artist Georges Seurat in our art lessons. We have created our own artwork of fruit in his style using pointillism - a technique of painting using tiny dots of various pure colours, which become blended in the viewer's eye. -
Year 3 Wednesday Word
Wed 02 Oct 2019Year 3 enjoyed a brisk morning in the Outdoor Classroom for our Wednesday Word. We enjoyed listening to Mrs Prescott, our two chaplains, Alex & Kadan and some of our children reading to the rest of the class.
The discussion centred around a reading from Luke's Gospel about having faith and being able to do amazing things. The parable was about the small mustard seed and Jesus describing how powerful faith is. How, if we have faith we can do anything we want, even if at first it seems impossible.

Ancient Egyptian Cartouche Creation
Wed 02 Oct 2019As part of the Year 3's deeper dive learning into the Ancient Egyptian Civilisation we used our Cartouche designs and started creating them out of clay. We managed to get outside into the fading light as the Egyptian Sun God, Ra, watched over us.
A cartouche is a name plate. It's usually oval with your name written in the middle of it. A cartouche is attached to your coffin.
The ancient Egyptians wanted to make sure that their two souls - the Ba and the Ka - could find their way back to their tomb at night, after they died. No one wanted their Ba or Ka to get lost.

Autumn Treasure
Thu 26 Sep 2019This week we have been noticing the changes in Autumn . We went looking for Autumn Treasure and enjoyed looking at the different leaves. We noticed the leaves were different shapes and colours. We then noticed we had an Evergreen Tree which doesn't lose it's leaves and we even found Mr Sabatino's Pumpkin Patch with the baby pumpkins growing slowly under the huge leaves. We love Autumn. -
