The Magic Box Poetry Superstars
Fri 28 Feb 2020This week, Year 3 focused on Poetry - listening, creating and performing poetry.
We looked at lots of different forms of Poetry; from Rap to song lyrics to traditional poems to nonsense poetry.
(the children especially loved Spike Milligan performing On The Ning Nang Nong and asked for it to be played quite a few times.
We then used the beautifully descriptive poem by Kit Wright, The Magic Box, to think of all the wonderful, strange and sometimes quite bizarre things that we may put in our own magic box. The children used all of their senses to think what smells, sounds, sights and tastes they would like in there.
We have recorded some children performing their poems - please visit the Video Resource Centre in the Children tab on the website to have a look and listen.

Y5 - Mardi Gras and Lent
Thu 27 Feb 2020Hi everyone,
A busy week already in Year 5!
In French on Tuesday we celebrated Mardi Gras (Pancake Day) with our own pancake feast.
On Wednesday we marked the beginning of Lent by leading an Ash Wednesday Mass. Our readers were excellent and everyone joined in the singing.
What did you put on your pancakes?
Are you giving up anything for Lent?
We hope you enjoyed your pancakes and wish you luck with your Lenten journey.

Y6 Robinwood Residential - Day 3
Wed 26 Feb 2020A tired but happy Year 6 were fortunate to have a lie-in this morning at Robinwood, before eating a hearty breakfast at 8:10 am.
Even though we are only at Robinwood until 2:00 pm when our coach departs for home, we have still managed to cram in three action-packed activities before lunch. Team Lava completed Archery, Caving and the Dungeon of Doom, whilst Teams River and Dune both experienced the Piranha Pool, Knight’s Quest and the Crate-building Challenge.
We have had an amazing time. We’ve enjoyed challenging ourselves, working in teams and bonding as a class.
A huge thank you to Matt, Sam and Maddy, our three unbelievably kind and supportive instructors, for making our time here so memorable.
We are leaving now to begin our journey home. Mrs Sabatino, Ms Cervellione and myself would like to thank each and every member of Year 6 for being so well-behaved and for working so hard in adverse weather conditions over the last three days. You are fantastic St. Mary’s Mates and great ambassadors for our school.
