  • Rosary Club

    Fri 09 Oct 2015

October is the month of the Holy Rosary.  We will be celebrating this by holding a Rosary Club every weekday morning before school, where children will be able to take a set of Rosary Beads and pray a decade of the Rosary.  A decade consists of one Our Father, ten Hail Mary’s and a Glory Be.   Each morning before we begin our decade, Mrs Prescott or Mrs Raynor will read out a short description of The Mystery of the Rosary that we will be celebrating that day.  Everyone in school is welcome to come and join us, please try to be in the hall before 8:50 am so that we can start promptly.

  • Year 5 Computing afternoon with MGL World Computing

    Fri 09 Oct 2015

On Thursday 8th October 2015, Year 5 were lucky to receive an afternoon’s Scratch workshop from Mrs Kate Rackham of MGL World Computing.  All the children really enjoyed the opportunity to explore this control programming module, and were excited and enthusiastic to learn throughout the session.  They grasped new programming skills quickly, and several of our Year 5’s are now eager to set up their own Scratch accounts at home, so that they can continue to develop their skills outside school.

For any parents who are interested in learning more about Scratch, or for children who would like to open their own home Scratch accounts, a link to the official Scratch homepage is below.

  • Year 4’s First Holy Communion Celebration

    Thu 08 Oct 2015

This week our children in Year 4 presented a lovely assembly to the school and their families on the theme of their First Holy Communion.  The children all looked wonderful in their beautiful dresses and suits.  This was followed by a whole school gathering to celebrate the Year 4 children having received this sacrament.  As a school community we pray for these children as their faith journey continues.

  • Walk to School Week 12-16 October 2015

    Wed 07 Oct 2015

We are taking part in Salford’s Walk to School Week and competing against other schools to be top of the leader-board. We will also have prizes for all pupils in the winning class!

Your child will be given a wristband which will be attached to their book bag. Each day, every pupil who walks will have their band ‘punched’. At the end of the week, we will count up the number of punches on the wristbands to find out the winning class and school.

Please make a special effort to walk to school as much as possible. It is fun, healthy, free and good for the environment.

  • Multicultural Day

    Mon 05 Oct 2015

On the 25th September we held our first Multicultural Day at St Mary’s.  It was a fantastic experience for all involved and was thoroughly enjoyed by all members of our school community.  The children participated in lots of activities including decorating a t-shirt to represent the country of their choice, taking part in our multi-cultural parade, demonstrating dances learned from different cultures around the world, cake decorating and food tasting.

The pupils also had the opportunity to learn about different cultures by visiting the exciting stalls set up by our parents.

It was wonderful to see how diverse St Mary’s school community is and truly represented how we are all special as children of God.

Thank you to all those who helped to make this day a huge success.
