  • House Celebration Day

Thu 25 Sep 2025 Mrs Kinman

✝️ Today we celebrated our school houses - Fatima 💛, Knock 💚, Lourdes 💙 and Walsingham ❤️.

The children completed fact files, composed prayers and had great fun taking part in team-building games. They have all earned so many extra ‘house points’! ✝️

    Fatima

Our Lady of Fátima is the title given to the Virgin Mary as she appeared before three shepherd children near the village of Fátima, Portugal, in 1917.

    Knock

In 1879 at the Shrine in Knock, a heavenly Apparition occurred. Our Lady appeared, in the company of St. Joseph and St. John.  Unlike other Marian apparitions, the figures remained silent for about two hours, and although it rained heavily, the location of the vision remained dry.

    Lourdes

The Lourdes Apparitions were a series of 18 visions of the Virgin Mary, in the Grotto in France. During these encounters, Our Lady identified herself as the "Immaculate Conception" and directed Bernadette to the grotto's spring.

    Walsingham

The Walsingham Apparition refers to the Marian apparitions to Richeldis de Faverches in 1061, where the Virgin Mary showed her the House of the Annunciation in Nazareth and asked her to build a replica in Walsingham, Norfolk, England, as a place of pilgrimage and devotion.

  • International Day of Peace 2025

Mon 22 Sep 2025 Mr Loynd

On Friday 19th September, St Mary's celebrated the International Day of Peace 2025.  This year's theme is "Act Now for a Peaceful World".  The theme recognises that everyone has a role to play when it comes to building a peaceful world. By acting through speaking in classrooms, volunteering and contributing to the community, we can all help promote messages of peace.

We started our celebrations in school on Wednesday 17th September, when Year 6 told us all about the International Day of Peace in a special celebration assembly.  Then on Friday, we all completed Caritas In Action work in our classes on the theme of Solidarity and the Common Good.

Please look at these examples of the work we produced.
