  • Cross Country Is Back!

Tue 14 Oct 2025 Mr Chadwick

So many of the children have been asking and yes it is back.

St Mary's Cross Country training will start again on Monday 3rd November 3.30 - 4.30. It will run for every Monday (unless the weather is really against us) and is open to every child in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6.

You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to come and join in. They are fun sessions that are inclusive for everyone, will build on natural fitness and all are welcome.

There are four races in the Salford Championships which are held on Saturday mornings at Buile Hill Park. They start at 9am and runners in Year 3 & 4 are usually finished by 9.30 with runners in Year 5 & 6 by 10.30.

Lots of children come and race and then rush off to play other sports if the kick off times allow it. Even if the children might miss an odd race, they are still welcome to training.

    Race Dates are:

    Saturday 15th November

    Saturday 29th November

    Saturday 13th December

    Saturday 17th January.

I hope to see loads of children at training for fun and fitness.

  • October - The Month of the Rosary.

Mon 13 Oct 2025 Mrs Brown

October is known in the Church as the Month of the Rosary.

The Rosary is a special form of prayer that helps us to think about important moments in the lives of Jesus and Mary. As we pray, we use a string of beads to guide us through a series of prayers — the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be — while reflecting on stories from the Gospel called the mysteries.

Throughout October, our school community will be gathering each morning at 8:45am to pray the Rosary together. Families, pupils, and staff are warmly invited to join us as we take a few peaceful moments at the start of each day to pray, reflect, and grow in faith together.

  • World Mental Health Day Assembly - Year 5

Thu 09 Oct 2025 Mr Chadwick

Year 5 had a wonderful first assembly of the new academic year and spoke to the school and parents about the impoptance of Mental Health.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10th which is on Friday and it aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world, promote discussion about feelings and emotions and encourage us to think about how we can support our own and others’ mental health.

The children spoke about when we feel happy, healthy and content, we have positive wellbeing and explain how important good Mental Health is for us in today’s world.

The children gave some great top tips in how to improve our mental health and wellbeing so we are absolutely ready to face the world each day.

The children know that our state of wellbeing affects how we cope with stress, relate to others and make choices. It also plays a part in our relationships with family, community and of course friends.

Mental health is important for everyone, whether we’re a pupil, parent, family member or a teacher. Being kind to others  and talking about our feelings can help us feel so much better.

Well done Year 5 for a lovely assembly and they have promised to keep an eye on each other, their parents and all the children around the school.

Remember, it is always OK to ask for help.
