  • Smart Safety

    Wed 24 Apr 2019

Children are using smart devices from a much younger age than ever before. Therefore it’s essential we talk to our children about how to use them safely. There are many positive benefits to the new technology at our disposal these days – but there are plenty of downsides too. As a parent, it’s important you understand these risks and how you can take steps to protect your family against them.

  • Yr 3 and Yr 4 Easter Production

    Wed 17 Apr 2019

The children from year 3 and year4 retold the story of Easter. The children from both classes were great in their speaking and acting roles. The production was further enhanced by the beautiful whole class singing, and solos.

  • On our way, ETA 4:30pm

    Sun 14 Apr 2019

We have now set off, the journey should take approximately two hours. Our estimated time of arrival is 4:30pm

  • Time to Mine

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

After lunch we had a lovely walk in the sunshine down to the Great Orme Mine. Our guide told us some fantastic information about life in the mine from the Bronze Age through to Victorian times. The children donned their hard hats and entered into the tunnels. We saw how the smelting was done and that Bronze weapons produced here could be found as far away as Denmark & Norway!

  • We’ve arrived!

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

After making brilliant time we have arrived at Lledr Hall and met our instructors for the weekend. After a quick briefing on life and expectations at the centre it was time to throw our gear into the dorms. Please note how tidy they look!

  • Get your gear on

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

One of the most exciting aspects of Lledr Hall is the Gear Room where all the children get their stuff for the weekend. Each of us gets a number and a peg and must remember (tricky) this all weekend. Fleeces are tried on, waterproofs and then the big heavy walking boots. The best bit is trying on the helmets and then racing to get them all on!

  • Nightline

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

Now for the funniest part of the Lledr Hall weekend. Yet it is also the moment when eh children learn that teamwork and trust is all important in rising and achieving a challenge. The children work in pairs and one wears blacked out goggles whilst the other partner guides them around the course with instructions only. However the catch is that amidst all the laughter a few of the instructions either go unheard or become slightly confused. Left becomes right, forwards becomes backwards. And so. Even more laughter ensues. The children loved this and in the words of our instructor, Mrs Angle-Smith, ‘I’ve never before taken a full Year 3 class on this at the same time, but now i know why you love doing it. This is one of the funniest things i’ve seen in ages.’ And it definitely is…

  • Jungle Gym Fun

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

All the children were split into teams today and separated for the different activities. Teamwork and the jungle gym is always one of the best activities as they must work together to get everybody round. The obstacles are designed that without the full cooperation then you just couldn’t progress.

There was laughter throughout and each team managed to complete the course with everybody home safe…

  • Slide of Doom!!!

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

Reaching the end of the jungle gym is one thing but then the children have to negotiate the Slide of Doom! At this point a few mention they need the toilet, a few want to turn back, some say they won’t scream and the rest just can’t wait. But everyone ends up smiling when they reach the bottom. You may think it’s not that steep but to a seven/eight year old this is the edge of Everest!

  • Where am I?

    Sat 13 Apr 2019

We give the children a map of the grounds and twelve markers that they have to find. They have a small map reading session and then a few tips and they are off. They burst out of the classroom, run around like headless chickens for a few minutes before getting into the swing of things and hunting for those twelve points. All of the children work really well together (a common theme of the weekend) but still haven’t realised that shouting, “I’ve found one!” brings everybody else running to where they are! Every time we do the orienteering course the staff purposely leave out the warning of the swamp (not very deep and not quicksand) near three of the markers. It is a cruel way for the staff to have a chuckle and maybe a sweepstake to see who runs into it first. The prize for 2019 goes to Fabiana!
