  • Arianna we're so proud of you!

Thu 19 Dec 2019 Mrs Brown

On December 7th 2019, on behalf of St Mary's RC primary school, Arianna Boardman competed at the North-West Schools Trampolining competition (Cheshire and Lancashire), held at Robin park Wigan. She competed two routines (of 10 moves) at years 1-6 elite level.

The criteria for this was there had to be a minimum of 4 somersaults of 360° in each routine. Her first routine had 5 somersaults and second routine had 7 somersaults, two had 360° rotation, one had 450° rotation and four had 360° rotation with a 180° sideways twist in either straight, pike or tuck shape. All the while aiming to stay on the cross in the middle of the trampoline bed, which Arianna did in her first routine, and because she had a more difficult second routine, she only missed the cross four times.

These two routines placed Arianna in 3rd position in the North-West and she has gained a place to represent the North-West in January in Newcastle, where she will compete amongst the top 3 year 1-6 elite girls from North, Yorkshire, Northern Ireland.

Arianna is so pleased to represent St Mary's School and add a trophy to the schools collection.

A huge Well done to Arianna and we wish you lots of luck for Newcastle in January. St Mary's mates are so proud and supporting you every step of the way!

  • Reception Class :Somewhere over the rainbow...

    Fri 13 Dec 2019 Mrs M Taylor
With our wonderful British weather the children noticed the rainbow in the sky as they played outside. Lots of excitement as they watched the colours develop and they talked about why rainbows appear- " it has to be sunny and rainy at the same time!" . They even asked " Mrs Taylor is there a pot of gold at the end over there????" . Needless to say our next mission is to explore rainbows and to see if we can make our own...

  • Yr4 - designers and builders of the future!!!

    Wed 11 Dec 2019 L.Johnson

As part of our History topic on 'The Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings', we have been studying their way of life so in our DT lessons we have worked together to construct our own Anglo-Saxon villages. We began by making a design of our village, then used paper, card, glue, sellotape, art straws, tubes and cardboard to construct our model. Next, we used paint and felt tips to add detail; and all the time we were modifying our build to make improvements.
