  • Dodgeball Tournament

    Mon 27 Mar 2017

Year 5 enjoyed themselves in a dodgeball tournament held at Swinton High School. The children showed great skills and developed well as a team.

  • Happy Mother’s Day from Year 3! We’re Leaving

    Sun 26 Mar 2017

A very Happy Mother’s Day from all the children, and adults, at Lledr Hall.

It’s a beautiful day and we’ve had a walk up to Capel Garmon Neolithic Burial Site and we’re now packing up.

We will be leaving LLedr Hall at 2.30pm so would expect to arrive back at school for about 4.30.

If there are any major issues on the road we will call one of the parents who will hopefully pass on the message.

    See you all soon..

  • Mine Mayhem

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

After the epic trek we finally reached the Great Orme Copper Mines and the children used all their knowledge to WOW our guide Helen with some brilliant answers to what life in the Bronze Age would have been like. After a great talk and artefact session we entered Levels 1 and 2 of the mine. They are the deepest visitors can go at the moment but the children were spotting the Copper Ore (malachite) which is still visible throughout the tunnels.

It seemed that the lower levels are off limits to all but the smallest of stature so Derron and Alice kindly volunteered to stay behind and start mining. Luckily for them the children took a democratic vote and the overwhelming majority decided we should keep them with us on the rest of the trip. Just look for Derron’s face as he’s told he may have to stay!

After leaving the mines we made the short last leg of the journey to meet Graham and his staff at LLedr Hall. After a spot of dinner with everybody trying some of the fine food made by John and his team the children went to get their kit prepared for the busy day ahead. The final part of the day was getting into the dormitories, with a few last minute ghost stories (from the children) until lights out and some well earned rest.

Tomorrow is going to be brilliant…

  • Rise and Shine

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

The children have put their recent maths lessons about time into practice. So at six o clock they proudly declared that they were ready to face the day. What better way to start than a morning walk in the frosty forest. We tried to see if the salmon were jumping with some of the boys turning into Trawlermen and hoping to catch breakfast. It didn’t quite happen. Imaginations were running wild with all manner of creatures ‘spotted’ tracking us in the forest. They ranged from squirrels, to wolves, foxes and of course The Gruffalo…

  • It’s time to get kitted out

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

One of the best parts of Lledr Hall is the responsibility that the children have to show with their kit. They are each assigned numbers for all of their equipment and after each activity or break must replace everything. It also means that most of their own clothes at least stay mud free!

  • Can you find it?

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

Part of the fun at Lledr Hall is all about map reading, using directions and following the clues. The children can traipse all over the grounds in teams in a brilliant competition. The weather was stunning with the sun shining and the warmth beating down as they raced round trying to find them. Some boots were lost in the mud, some went off in strange directions but every pair found all of the treasure points. Well done and the spirit of competition was fierce…

  • Ropes Adventure

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

Teambuilding and trying new things is the ethos of LLedr Hall and one of the most challenging is the ropes course. You cannot do it alone and it takes plenty of thought, ingenuity, trial and error. There are tunnels, seesaws, dead-ends, single and double ropes to navigate. Every group managed with some thought to work out the best way across and by towards the end of the course you could see that they were no longer just jumping in but stopping to deliberate. It helped slow them down by turning it into a game and telling them they would lose a life if they touched the ground.

  • Life Across The Pond

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

All of the children were really looking forward to the Canoeing session and luckily with the weather the water was warm enough that we could get in. Literally for some children. They learnt how to hold the paddles, turn the boats through 360 degrees in both directions and swap from boat to boat. This is where a few of the jumps, or slips, occurred. All in good fun though and once they were in, then they would want it to happen again and again. Jake takes the first prize for six jumps!

  • Night Walking, Bonfire, Marshmallows and a film.

    Sat 25 Mar 2017

What better way to end a very strenuous day than a quick Night Rope Walk where the children again work in teams and lead each other around the tricky, obstacle laden, course. Sounds easy? Not when you’re wearing black out goggles and are relying on your partner. A few were too busy laughing to remember their jobs and mayhem ensued. It was brilliant. Next, a few marshmallows around the bonfire where Miss Monks had all the children singing along to Down By The Bay. We toasted the marshmallows and finally headed up to end the day relaxing in the lounge watching a film. A few sleepy eyes requested to go to bed early – is that a first? Final day tomorrow and we’ll be heading home…

  • And They’re Off!

    Fri 24 Mar 2017

Apologies for the late post but what a hectic day! It started brilliantly with all the parents cheering us off and the Year 3 saw us all off in style! And so the epic adventure began…
