  • Important Online Safeguarding Information: HiCalculator

    Tue 17 Jan 2017

    Dear parents,

It has been brought to our attention that some children may be downloading a secrecy App for photographs and videos, called ‘HiCalculator’.  The App appears and operates on a mobile device as a calculator, however, once a password has been entered children can store photographs or videos on the App as well as share them with others. This allows children to keep photographs and videos a secret.

The App does not contain an age restriction and therefore can be accessed by anyone. You may wish to  monitor your child’s activities online, particularly if they are using an App specifically designed to hide items from view.

  • Christmas for the Community

    Thu 22 Dec 2016

This year our Key Stage 2 classes performed a very special carol concert for the elderly members of our community. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all which started with members of our PTA and Missionary Disciples serving drinks and light refreshments. Meriel Woodward from the Lalley Community Centre attended the event and gave a special talk on the wonderful work the centre does. Our visitors kindly made a donation to the charity, which will be added to our school contribution. This was followed by some exciting games of bingo called by Mrs Murphy and Mrs Prescott, with some amazing prize hampers! Finally the afternoon culminated with a wonderful carol service led by our key stage 2 pupils. We thoroughly enjoyed entertaining members of our community and sharing this special festive season with them!

  • Dictionary Decisions

    Tue 29 Nov 2016

Year 3 have been using dictionaries this week to locate words, learn how to spell them correctly, know their word class and also to find out definitions of words they are unsure of. This is a requirement of all children in Year 3.

If you have a dictionary at home you could help your child by playing a game where you ask them to explain the meaning of a new word. Provide the children with the first three letters of the word if they are unsure and then give them a time limit to find it.

New words for the class this week were queasy, obstruct, mime, reduce, adapt, xerox, vain, prepare and consequence.
