St Mary's Harvest Celebrations and Caritas Day
Fri 14 Oct 2022Today in school we have been celebrating harvest and thinking about people in our local area and beyond who need our help and support at this time.
As part of our first Caritas In Action day for this academic year, we have been learning about how our local Salford Loaves and Fishes Charity help the poor and vulnerable people in our area.
We have completed a range of activities in our classes, looking at the different needs of people living in our local area, exploring the feelings of those people who have plenty compared to those people who have little, discussing all the amazing work the Salford Loaves and Fishes charity does, identifying who needs our help and how we can give that help, and even discussing the potential positive impact of a local community allotment.
Our older children have written letters to Loaves and Fishes congratulating them on the brilliant work that they do, and to our Prime Minister telling her about the charity and talking about how their work could be a model for other charities around the country.
We would like to thank all of the families in our St. Mary's community who have sent donations of food, toiletries and clothing into school for the Loaves and Fishes Charity and the Ukraine Appeal. Please see the photographs below

This short animation has been designed by Salford for schools. The animation explains to children what Operation Encompass is and how their school Key Adult supports them following an incident of Domestic Abuse where the Police attend. The animation may also be a useful tool when supporting children in terms of explaining Operation Encompass/Domestic abuse, the child’s feelings and, how school will support them.

Weather WARNING!
Fri 15 Jul 2022You may be aware that extreme heat weather is predicted from Sunday on wards.
We are not expecting school to close, but we will take a common-sense approach to cope with the hot weather over the first half of next week. ie. ventilation, plenty of water, sunscreen, refrain from physical activity etc.
We are also fortunate to have a number of large trees where pupils can shelter outside and keep cool and we will limit children's time in the sun.
Please make sure your child brings their suncream, sun hat and water bottle to school.
We are also allowing children to wear their own suitable light and cool clothing ie shorts and t-shirts, summer dresses (preferably with shoulders covered or plenty of suncream applied).
Portable hand held fans are also allowed, please label these.

This is AMAZING! Thank you to everyone who came along to watch the children's performances to end an exciting Arts week. Then for staying and enjoying the school fair! We could not do this without all your generous contributions!
The school council can not wait to meet and plan how they would like the money to be spent!
