Welcome to St Mary's R.C. Primary School.
St Mary’s RC Primary School is everything a catholic primary school should be; rooted in the gospel values, fun, exciting, caring and forward thinking! We don’t know what jobs our children will do in the future, in fact they might not even exist yet, but at St Mary’s we strive to equip our learners with the skills and knowledge needed, not only to make them successful, but to go beyond that and exceed expectations, the sky’s the limit!
My name is Dee Raynor and I am proud to be the Headteacher of St Mary’s RC Primary School. Having approximately 231 pupils and a Nursery, we cater for children from the ages of 3 to 11. Our teachers are exceptional, providing quality, tailored collaborative learning for each and every child, every day. We are a very strong team, our results and awards are testament to that. We live out our mission within the core values of love, respect, faith, inspire and achieve, as St Mary tells us ‘God is love, and He loves us as we are’. Our Mission extends to us referring to our school members as St Mary’s Mates, we look after each other.
Our vibrant classrooms have learning at the heart of all our displays and every teacher has an ultra-modern interactive board to bring learning to life! This, in addition to our bank of IPads, means our children are able to work with, and alongside, some of the best technology available in schools.
We believe that schools are stronger when they work together and that this provides better opportunities for our children. We love to work with other schools sharing our outstanding practice and to ensure we are constantly learning from one another so that our children continue to receive the best provision and opportunities.
We are proud to work with local Teaching Schools and Universities, welcoming trainee teachers, knowing that we can support the future of teaching – this is an exceptional place to learn, for everyone!
Sport is important to us too. As a member of the Salford Sports Partnership and recently gaining our Platinum Games award, all our children access high quality sport events and competitions to promote a love of sport and a healthy lifestyle. We invite in professional coaching staff to ensure PE lessons, in every discipline, are taught to the highest standard.
However, we recognise that sport is a great leveller and success means different things to different people so we are also keen to support inclusive events, we just want our children to be active!
Our creative curriculum and outdoor learning are also strengths of our school, making use of our local environment. Our arts curriculum is amazing, providing a variety of artistic events throughout the year, including our creative arts week.
Our breakfast club is very popular providing a range of activities, as well as a healthy breakfast at a reasonable price. After school, we have ‘Premier Sports’ for 4-11 year olds open to pupils from St Mary’s.
Our Governing Body is incredibly supportive in all that we do and visit the school regularly to challenge and support leaders to ensure we maintain high standards and move forward as an organisation.
Our whole school community joins to achieve our simple goal for each and every one of our children to be the best they can be. We encourage our pupils to be more like Jesus and strive daily to achieve this through our five core values.
