Advent – How Jesus changed the world.

On Tuesday year 4 visited the Marist Youth Centre. The centre exists to challenge children to discuss and wonder what God is doing in and through them.

    The day consisted of:

    -What is Advent?

    – Giving and receiving

    – Role play

    – Preparation of Liturgy.

A great spiritual time was had by all the children and staff of year 4. A big thank you to the Sisters for their time and guidance in preparing year 4 for the season of Advent.

  • St Mary’s Snowman has arrived!

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

After the great success of our bee sculpture and our participation in the Bee in the City trail, we are very proud to announce St Mary’s will be taking part in the up coming Walking with the Snowman trail.

This afternoon our pupils took part in a Big Reveal assembly to meet our snowman and had a sneak preview of the artists designs for the twelve giant snowmen. We then spent the afternoon researching, planning and designing our own snowman template. Then next week we will pull everyone’s ideas together and paint our sculpture before it goes live on the trail around Media City on 10th December, where it will remain until mid January.

Walking with The Snowman is the first ever sculpture trail inspired by the nation’s favourite Christmas story. There are twelve giant Snowman sculptures waiting to be found, each based on the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, as well as smaller Snowmen beautifully decorated by local schools and groups.

  • Lest We Forget

    Mon 12 Nov 2018

Year 2’s assembly was all about the importance of remembrance day. They had made a very special display as part of their assembly and explained the significance and meaning behind Remembrance day. We reenacted some of the soldiers stories and performed a poem about poppies. We also looked at the importance of peace in today’s world.

To mark the centenary of the end of World War 1 many classes had made their own poppies during art classes. These were then displayed in our outdoor prayer area for a special Remembrance ceremony, which included prayers and poems if remembrance and a 2 minutes silence.

  • Year 5 Wednesday Word

    Wed 07 Nov 2018

Although a cold morning, Year 5 enjoyed our gathering for the Wednesday Word in the outdoor chapel. We were joined by parents to discuss the Gospel and how we can share our talents and gifts to make the world a better place. We start at home, school and then bring the Good News to our wider community.

The morning ended with a lovely song from our Chaplains which the class and parents joined in with.

Thank you to those parents who made it.

  • Salford School Cross Country Championships – Race 1 Results

    Tue 06 Nov 2018

What a performance! Well done to all the runners, who braved what should have been really cold conditions but actually turned out to be slightly warmer than expected. This must have spurred our athletes on as they performed brilliantly again. Those experienced runners and those brand new to the course were fantastic. We had four runners within the top 10 for their year groups which was simply brilliant.

You can view the results by clicking on the website link – it will also show you the team placing for each year group and for boys and girls.

Next race is in a few weeks and hopefully everyone will be there again to race around Buile Hill Park.
