St Mary’s achieves the Modeshift Stars Bronze Accreditation
St Mary’s are very proud to have achieved the Bronze Accreditation from Modeshift Stars.
Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel.
The scheme encourages schools across the country to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of children and young people.
The school have introduced the Walk To School initiative, set up the park and stride location at Aldi supermarket, spoken with the Mayor of Salford about traffic calming initiatives for around the school, enjoyed participating in the Road Safety Week campaign, had Safer Cycling training for Year 5 and much more.
As of Sepember 2017, 64 organisations representing around 13,000 schools in England are signed up to Modeshift STARS.
We are very proud to have achieved the award but will now press on with even more initiatives to achieve the Silver Level. Please support the school and where you can cycle or walk to and from school.
