Ratatouille - Year 6 Food Technology
Year 6 have had a great time this morning preparing and making Ratatouille, a classic French vegetable dish, as part of our French Day celebrations.
"Ratatouille" is a French word meaning "a motley stew", and it has been a staple of French cuisine since 1778!
Whilst there is no precise recipe for ratatouille, it usually consists of pieces of vegetables which are all cooked together. Our ratatouille contains courgette, peppers, chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic and mixed herbs.
As you can see from our photographs, Year 6 prepared and chopped all of the vegetables ourselves.
We have cooked our ratatouille in a slow cooker, although you can also cook it in a saucepan. It smells and tastes delicious!
