Eco Council – Walkers Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme 2019

We understand the responsibility we have to reduce the impact of our packaging on the environment, and we’re on it!

Starting this week our school will be taking part in a recycling initiative run by Walkers Crisps. We will be collecting empty crisp packets which, when sent to Walkers, will be turned into plastic pellets and used to make other plastic products. Although run by Walkers, any brand of crisp packet can be recycled. (Unfortunately we cannot accept Popcorn bags, Meat snacks or Pringles tubes and the packets cannot be folded into triangles.)

There will be a box in the Eco Area (Near the Year 6 classroom) for you to put your packets into. As well as the environment, the number of packets we get are turned into points which can be used in exchange for school supplies.

So not only will you be helping the environment but also the school!

The school and Eco-Council give you a big thanks in advance for helping our school reduce the amount of plastic ending up in the environment. (also remember that only school water bottles should be used in the school.)

A free and simple way to recycle Walkers crisp packets

At the moment, the packaging we use is the best way to keep our crisps crunchy and delicious. However, we’re aiming to make all our packaging 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025. In the meantime, we’ve partnered with recyclers TerraCycle to make it easier to recycle our crisp packets and reduce the impact we have on the environment.
