Year 6 pupils have also learnt about World War II by wearing the uniforms and getting into character.

One of the school’s targets for this year is to improve writing across the school. Each week a time is set aside when the whole school focuses  on extended writing. Here are some of the pieces produced by Year 6 during one of these sessions.

Whiteboard wiped clean!
Teacher’s lesson goes walkabout.

On 18th September, at 12pm, Mr Lee Johnson was shocked that his lesson for the children in year 6 was wiped clean (from the year 6 classroom at St Mary’s Primary School) COMPLETELY!!!

After when the children of year 6 went to dinner, Mr Johnson carefully wrote on the smartboard (the board that all he classes in the school used) the lesson that year 6 was going to have. Finally, having the lesson on the board checked and completed, he hungrily went off to microwave his dinner. After his lovely dinner, he stayed in the staffroom ‘til it was time for the lesson. The children was surprised that there was nothing on the smartboard. Matthew Canning cheekily said that is there going to be no lessons this afternoon? So, Mr Johnson came into the classroom and he had a shock more than anyone in the room!

Sir began to go around. He left the children in the hands of Mrs Hodson, (the teaching assistant). Just at that time, Grace, Rachel and Jenny was coming back to the classroom, a bit surprised to see their teacher out of the classroom. So, nevertheless, Sir asked them :” Have you three seen anyone acting weird?” “No,” replied Jenny and Rachel. “We were in the office all break.” “Now you mention it, Sir,” Grace started, “When I came inside because Mrs Morgan asked m to do a job, I saw Miss Hodson acting a bit strange. Because I was working just outside the door, I saw when she came out too. She was all ‘boardy’ to me. And she looked like she had a crazy smile on. She’s a teacher right? She wouldn’t do something stupid anyway.” So Sir told the three girls to go into class and he continued to investigate. He thought that last time when Mrs Dolan, (the headteacher) stole his sandwich, which is an example that staff could commit crime too, as well as students, so then he immediately went down to Mrs Dolan’s office.

After a short chat about this and she said, “There is a simple way of doing this, all I have to do is switch on the security cameras computer and then I can see exactly who did it and this can be proof.” So Mrs Dolan did what see said she could do and she was right. “I never knew you had security cameras!” exclaimed Sir. “Well I can’t let everyone know, or else the cameras would be no use.” Explained Mrs Dolan. So, as Grace said, it WAS Mrs Hodson. There she was, to be clearly seen, Mrs Hodson laughing as she wiped the board clean as glean.

As a result, the year 6 children got to do what ever they wanted to do, inside or out. And to make sure they were watched, Mrs Sabatino watched them. Because the rest of the staff were at the St Mary’s Court, (in the hall). Soon Mrs Hodson was sentenced as guilty, and had to pay a £10 fine and having to do lessons for year 6 all day for 2 weeks.
