St Mary’s Pupil Chaplains

“It is up to you, young followers of Christ, to show the world that faith brings happiness and a joy which is true, full and enduring”.
Pope Benedict XVI

St Mary’s pupil chaplains are a small group of Year 5 pupils, who have been directly appointed by the Bishop of Salford to give a joyful witness of Christ in our school. They provide support for our teachers and children, by helping to develop the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils across the curriculum.

Pupil Chaplains assist with the delivery and development of the prayer life of the school by supporting assemblies, class prayer times and prayer groups. They also have their own notice board in school which they take responsibility for, by creating work to share prayers, reflections and information about the religious life of our church and school throughout the year.

The Chaplaincy team is beginning to generate ideas of ways in which our school can support local, national and international charities, such as Caritas in the Diocese of Salford, and Cafod.

Our Pupil Chaplaincy team is supported by Mrs Prescott, St. Mary’s Lay Chaplain, and Mr Loynd, RE Coordinator.
